Mama’s BoyTop Story - May 2024
I’ve been a fiancé for four years and three months. We’ve been together for six and a half years total, and we have a two-month-old son together. I can’t help but think that we’ll never get married. We haven’t even decided on a wedding date. When I bring it up, he tries to escape the room as if he’s late for something more important.

Time Stands Still
There’s no way that’s me. I look like a totally different person, and I definitely don’t look like a forty-nine year old at all. I might not have been the best person, but I don’t think I deserve this. No one does. Well, I wouldn’t say no one. This world has some crazy people in it that do horrible things, and I believe in karma. But somehow, my karma is to shrivel up into a raisin. Why me?

A place that was once where children grew, wives blithely picked fresh produce, and teenagers explored the mystical secrets of the forest was no more.

Chamber of Hearts
People pleasing was an old hobby that opened the door to self neglect. Offering to pour more in the cups of others and leaving myself with droplets was the norm. It never failed to leave me feeling torn. Empty. I thought denying my own basic needs was showing that I cared deeply.

Winners of The Secret Writer Challenge!
It’s the last day of Black History month, because it’s a leap year. I’m so grateful for that one extra day! Hooray for 29 days of celebrating Black History! I hope everyone that read through the entries got a taste of what it was like for Black people living in America during the 1800s. I absolutely love history, so this prompt was definitely my favorite so far.
