They won't take no for an answer.

Hey girl! Let me be your "Financial advisor".

Odessa, TX—home to the Permian Basin, one of the most prolific oil fields in the US. What else is prolific here? Human trafficking, drugs, and violence. At the time, the the violent crime statistics against women were #4 IN THE COUNTRY, according to the local Sheriff's Department!

If you don't know, oil workers are from all over the country and get housed by the companies to work the oil fields for months at a time and are away from home. They get paid well and work very long, hard hours. And from what I hear, they don't care about backgrounds because they just need hands. What does all this amount to? A few obvious things like: loneliness, boredom, money burning a hole in your pockets, and a whole lot of rowdyness just like the movie Road House. Not to mention how close you happen to be to the border.

Prostitution rings are rampant here because there's a huge demand. Guys are lonely and have the money to spend. The two strip clubs in town are usually busy and profitable. But rowdy as hell. Stabbings, shootings, and a few rival biker gang wars right in the parking lots.

I had traveled to this town several times. My good friend scored a job there and asked if I wanted to check it out. Of course I did. Why not? I had no idea what I was walking into..

The first few trips, I went by myself and it was very profitable. I did start to notice that every time I would walk to the vending machine at the hotel or the office, several guys would suddenly appear out of nowhere from several of the rooms. Like vultures. Cat calling and harassing me. Well I'm strapped, so go ahead buddy, I'm your Huckleberry....

It was manageable until one day I was packing my things to drive home and loading up the rental car. Seemingly out of nowhere, a man in a gold colored SUV pulls up and stops behind my rental, so now I'm blocked in. He starts saying some pretty graphic and vulgar things. I'm trying to ignore him, but he's not having it. So I very sternly explain to him what will happen when I go upstairs to collect the rest of my things from my room, and he is still parked behind me harassing me. It was obvious what profession he was in and was probably scouting for "new talent."

I walk up to my room, pack the rest of my things, and put my Ruger in my shirt inside my bra so that it is clearly visible. I walk back down and he's still in the same spot. I proceed with loading the rest of my things into the rental, ignoring him. Now he decides that it would be a good idea for him to step out of his vehicle to approach me. I warn him very loud: "Sir, I'm only going to warn you once! I am armed and you need to get back into your vehicle!" That only made it worse as he tells me he likes it rough. I pull my weapon and point it at him. I was ready to shoot him!

I think he got the hint finally as he walked fast back to his car and drove off. He drove around the hotel parking lot twice to cuss me out from his gold colored SUV...
